My research or experience while staying Japan
First, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Shizuoka University, Prof. Watanabe and Prof. Park for extending this invitation to me to deliver an invited talk at ‘2015 Workshop on Green Science and Technology of Global Young Researchers’ and ‘2015 International Symposium toward the Future of Advanced Researches in Shizuoka University’. It was a great experience to visit Japan again after a gap of 14 years. It was like a homecoming for me as I stayed in Shizuoka from 1994-1998 to complete my PhD from Shizuoka University under supervision of Prof. Hideo Etoh. It was so nice to be invited by my alma mater to share research results from my laboratory, the work that we have been doing in my lab utilizing a rich experience gained during my studies at Shizuoka University. Further, I found this was a truly multidisciplinary conference where researchers delivered talks on Science as well as Engineering. It was three days of extensive deliberations and several fruitful discussions with the participants. The conference helped networking with several international scientists. The conference was organized perfectly and I complement the organizers for this wonderful conference. It was again great to see my PhD student receive a best presentation award from the organizing committee. I truly enjoyed my stay in Shizuoka and Hamamatsu.

The university has great infrastructure and great staff.
About a Japan
Japan, the ‘Land of Rising Sun’ is a beautiful country of wonderful people. The people of Japan are very hospitable and we found the same warmth when we met our old Japanese friends even after twenty years. We visited renovated Nihondaira with old friends to have beautiful view of Mt Fuji. Even for a single moment, I did not feel that I am in a foreign country and I would love to visit Japan again and again!

Successful Symposium, Wonderful Visit to Shizuoka University
My research or experience while staying Japan
I have really enjoyed a lot during my stay (about one week) in Japan. On January 26, 2015, I gave a talk -on 1-trichloromethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline(TaClo)modulates IL-1β mediated cyclooxygenase-2 in SK-N-SH cell line – in my first ever International Workshop. During my stay, I realized that Japanese people are very humble, cooperative and workaholic.

My research or experience while staying Japan
I had a wonderful experience in the short duration of my stay in Japan (25-29 Jan, 2015). The workshop was a well-organized event, both at Shizuoka and Hamamatsu campuses. I felt extremely honored to have given the keynote talk for the workshop. All the presentations by other delegates were very inspiring. This kind of interdisciplinary workshop should be conducted on a regular basis to increase scientific interaction.
About a University
Both Shizuoka and Hamamatsu Campuses are centers of excellence. Especially having the symposium together with the non-life science departments opened up many areas of research possibilities enriching my knowledge. The two days of symposium was very interesting but packed tight. I felt staying a couple days longer after the symposium would have given me some free time to meet individual PIs, their students and visit their labs to further discuss possibilities of collaborative research.
About a Japan
This is my first visit to Japan and I loved it so much that I am sure I will have more chances to visit. It’s a very efficient and modern country, yet the people are very courteous and down to earth. The extent to which they go to help others is exemplary.
The influence for your own study or future
The enriching workshop gave new insights allowing me to expand my own research into newer frontiers. However, it is too early to pursue a new path as I am in the beginning stages of establishing my career as an independent scientist. But I definitely plan to pursue these goals in the near future. A collaborative research is definitely possible now.

Professor Park invited me to come to Shizuoka University in middle of March 2015. Soon after arrived, I visited his laboratory and we have some discussion regarding our future collaboration. We discussed many things especially about dengue vaccine development by applying silkworm expression system from his lab. He also introduced to me his lab member, some of them from abroad like from India, Bangladesh, South Africa and also from Indonesia. All of them were very kind and `warm`. We discussed also about other projects in the Professor Park lab. They perform many interesting research topics such as nano diagnostic for influenza virus, finding new drug for cancer and so on.
