Selected as the Special Priority Program under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2024~ International cooperative education program with the universities in middle-eastern Europe and Asia in the fields of photonic application, imaging and their related technologies ~

We are proud to announce that in November 2023, “International cooperative education program with the universities in middle-eastern Europe and Asia in the fields of photonic application, imaging and their related technologies” situated under Graduate School of Science and Technology (GSST) , Doctoral program, Shizuoka University has been designated as the International Special Priority Graduate Program under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship.

With this, Shizuoka University has two programs that have the priority allocation of the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship students. This designation is valid for three years.

a. Program title
International cooperative education program on biological, environmental science and technology for the sustainable societies in Asia
Designation: 2021 Academic year
Description: In the fields of “environment and energy systems” and “green bioscience,” which are the strengths of Shizuoka University, we will strengthen the academic activities we have conducted with Southwest and Southeast Asia in order to realize a sustainable society, promote human exchange to overcome the various crises facing these societies together, and strengthen the international contribution capabilities of our university.

b. Program title
International cooperative education program with the universities in middle-eastern Europe and Asia in the fields of photonic application, imaging and their related technologies
Designation: 2023 Academic year
Description: By making the cycle of international doctoral human resource development that has been established in the interdisciplinary field of “Optical Application and Imaging,” which is one of the strengths of Shizuoka University, sustainable over the long term, and based on the University’s philosophy of “free enlightenment and future creation,” the University will foster human resources who will contribute to “Society 5.0” and the establishment of international human resources in the region. By promoting this, the University’s function of international contribution in this field will be strengthened.

Special Priority Program under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) will give preferential allocation of Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship students to outstanding graduate program for international students. This scheme aims to increase the number of excellent international students and strengthen Japan’s international competitiveness.
